While I'm not a huge fan of selective coloring, you did do a good job. (I have done it myself, just not a huge fan.)

Personally I've found I like to use a more subtle approach. I prefer to desaturate the photo without going totally black and white and then keep the stronger saturation in the part of the photo where I want the color to pop. or If I go totally black and white just add a little saturation to the color I want to pop, instead of really saturating it.

Good luck with exams.

You have done this very well Shiv, it is so easy to make a complete mess of this technique. It is a pity your mom was not facing the camera, but it is nevertheless, a nice composition. Good luck with exams young man. Many regards, Neil.

Good idea just leaving the hat in its blue condition.
I think I am in the same position as you i.e. writing exams and all, except from the fact that mine is university work. It is great to see you have time to still share pictures. That's good Shiv

I like the one color to the hat. Nice job.

Take your time shiv - that funny word means you have to study. Yugh!

Does your mom support the Blue Bulls (my rugby team)?

It would have been a great picture without the colouring and now it is even better.
